Refreshing our phones constantly, the weather never seemed to change for Saturday, February 18th. Cue the need for immediate-backup-plan. The venue would be outside. The portraits would be outside. WHAT were we going to do if it really stormed? All week it was GORGEOUS. But Saturday…the one day…there was a mean storm that was supposed to blow through. This is pretty typical of a Florida wedding. So…we prayed…and we prayed…and we woke up Saturday morning to gloominess. NO! NOT ON HER WEDDING DAY. Brides should feel radiant on their wedding day. Sunshine is radiant, not storm clouds!
And then 2 o’clock came… We show up to begin photographing and there is this yellow, bright light appearing through the clouds…Say it isn’t so…THE SUN CAME OUT, PEOPLE! Kassie was nothing but smiles (and you’ll see that in all of her gorgeous portraits!).
We met Kassie years ago when she was in the youth group at church. She was this gorgeous, auburn-haired girl with the most beautiful smile (and incredibly white teeth!) Years have passed by since we’ve seen each other, so you can imagine how excited we were when she asked us to photograph her wedding!
One thing that we tend to pull out of our brides + grooms are smiles. We will put you in a posed position, but then draw out the natural smiles…and as you will be able to see as you scroll down, we really didn’t have to do any work at all! Mark sees Kassie as the most beautiful woman he’s every seen. Kassie is head-over-heels in love with Mark. He waited 6 years after meeting her to propose, and now look at them! They’re adorable! 🙂
There were so many sweet details that were included, but our absolute favorite was the way the back of her dress was an open-back with her hair up so you could see her tattoo right under her neck. It’s a tattoo of her mother’s signature. And with her mom being passed away, how beautiful that was to show and honor her in that way. How proud she would be of all that you’ve accomplished and your sweet soul, Kassie.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Shackelford!
XOXO,
Mandi & Haylee
