Wiegand Family

Sunny-turned-Storm

It was the most perfect sunny day leading up to the Wiegand family session. We were chatting back and forth about how excited we were to photograph them again for the second year in a row…and in this gorgeous light! I thought to myself how bright it was and thankful for the beautiful gulf-front view. As we walked down to the beach, you could see a split in the sky…dark sky was forming with clouds all around, yet the sun was SO incredibly bright. You could tell it was more than just a dark cloud passing. Ten minutes go by and the sun is completely covered, but it was still clear of rain.

Yes, the weather was changing rapidly, but I was more distracted by how beautiful this family is. Clearly on the outside, but to be around them (even in such a short time period) is a breath of fresh air. Personally, four kids is a handful (almost literally, haha!). I have four myself and it is SUCH a joy, but also makes for some really challenging days. So going into this session, I knew what I was in for! Haylee had the privilege of photographing their family last year, so I (Mandi) was excited to meet them!  The way Chris and Casey spoke to their children was so full of grace, patience, and love. I mean, think about it….a stranger spending time on the beach following them around with a camera…what child is really okay with that? These precious children listened so well to both their parents and me.

As the sky turned black and rain began to fall, we finished up quickly and watched everyone on the beach run! There were two beach bonfires near us and the rain put that out in an instant! We quickly said our goodbyes and hoped for the best with under twenty minutes of photographing! I was so nervous about not getting enough moments captured because of the rush in time, but I can honestly say it is one of my most favorite family sessions! The love the family shares has a lot to do with that though. 🙂 With the rain quickly approaching, I was trying to make time for typical combinations, and they said all they really wanted was full-family shots. I LOVE that so much. They wanted their time together documented so they can remember the little years. The kids have grown so much even from last year’s visit!

The last thing I’ll mention is that Casey is an incredible blogger. She has a way with making you feel through her words. And me telling you that really doesn’t do much. Just go visit her website! Chris is an amazing videographer and can document anything and make you also feel like you are a part of it. There’s something special about these two! Follow their blog and you will not be disappointed! I hope you enjoy these as much as I did, and can feel their love right through them!
